It’s not always easy to reach out to ask for help, in fact it is very brave. By talking through your issues with a trained professional you can gain a greater understanding of your internal conflicts and what triggers them, so that you can recognise, tolerate and discover how to cope with them in vulnerable moments.
I am an integrative counsellor, which means that I will draw on a number of different theories that best address your issues depending upon how your own unique set of life circumstances, difficulties and challenges have shaped and impacted you.
My work with you will be carried out in accordance with the BACP Ethical Framework wherein I am required to maintain confidentiality, although there are times where I will have to break confidentiality, for example if you disclose to me that you are at serious risk of harm to yourself or to someone else. Similarly there are legal obligations that are regulated by The Children’s Act, Acts of Terrorism, Money Laundering, Drug trafficking and any on-going Court proceedings. As with all counsellors I am required to be in supervision for my professional support and benefit, however anything that I discuss therein will always be done in an anonymous way.
I am available for short, fixed or long-term work, although I would recommend that you commit to a minimum number of 6 sessions as, in my experience, this is the optimal number of sessions in which a safe, trusting and therapeutic relationship can develop.
